Your privacy matters

This policy explains how SalahScreen handles information in its Android and iOS apps and on this website. Features and data practices differ by platform. The apps work without a SalahScreen sign-in, but local profiles, subscription identifiers, and third-party requests are still information about your use of the service.

1. Information you save in the app

The app stores preferences and records used for personalization, prayer tracking, app blocking, reading, and reflection. Depending on what you enter and the features you use, these include your name and email, profile details, onboarding answers about faith and prayer habits, goals and personal struggles, saved location, prayer history and streaks, excused days and pauses, reflection text and moods, and reading preferences.

On Android, this also includes your selected app names and package identifiers, Quran bookmarks and reading position, and saved onboarding progress, including a demonstration reflection and mood. These Android records are stored in the app's private files, preferences, and databases. The Android app does not automatically upload a profile or reflection journal to a SalahScreen account server. System backup and sharing can create copies outside the app, as explained below.

2. Location and prayer-time requests

You can allow location access or choose a city manually. Prayer times are retrieved from Aladhan. Requests to its API include the selected coordinates, date or date range, and calculation-method and Asr-school settings. Like other network services, the recipient also receives connection information such as your IP address.

On Android, automatic location uses Google Play services to request a current or last available location. Coordinates sent for prayer times are rounded to four decimal places and can still represent a precise location. Android's geocoding service looks up city names or resolves city searches and may send coordinates or search text to the device's geocoding provider. A manually selected city supplies that city's coordinates; it avoids device-location permission but does not make prayer-time requests offline.

On iOS, prayer-time requests also send selected coordinates and calculation settings to Aladhan. The app uses Apple's location and city-search services where applicable. Cached prayer times can remain available without a network connection. Qibla guidance uses the saved location and device sensors.

3. App blocking and permissions

Android: when you enable app blocking, Usage Access lets SalahScreen identify the foreground app and compare it with your selections. The picker reads launchable app names, icons, and package identifiers. The selected list is stored locally; the current foreground app is held in memory while monitoring runs. This implementation does not send the list or foreground-app observations to SalahScreen or RevenueCat. Display-over-other-apps access allows the blocking screen, and a foreground service with an ongoing notification supports monitoring.

Notification permission enables reminders. Exact-alarm access, when granted, improves their timing. You can revoke permissions in Android settings or disable reminders and blocking in the app. This Android version does not use a camera, microphone, or Accessibility Service for prayer confirmation or monitoring.

iOS: app blocking uses Apple's Screen Time permissions and services. Optional camera-based prayer confirmation uses camera access when that feature is selected. Feature-event analytics can record the confirmation method and outcome separately from the on-device camera processing. Permissions can be managed in iOS settings.

4. Subscriptions and RevenueCat

Purchases use Google Play on Android and Apple's App Store on iOS. RevenueCat supports plan availability, purchase validation, subscription status, premium access, and restoration. Its SDK starts with the app, including before a purchase, and uses a customer identifier for subscription operations. A randomly generated identifier is not a guarantee that all subscription records are anonymous.

Google Play or Apple and RevenueCat process purchase and subscription information outside your device. SalahScreen does not read your full payment-card details. The Android implementation does not pass names or email addresses from your local profile to RevenueCat. The separate analytics SDKs described for iOS below are not embedded in this Android release; server-side subscription integrations are described next.

Our RevenueCat project is also configured to forward subscription events through integrations with Singular and Superwall and to export subscription records to Amazon S3 storage managed for SalahScreen. These services support subscription analytics, attribution, and subscription experiences. Server-side forwarding is separate from which SDKs are embedded in the Android or iOS app.

5. Analytics, diagnostics, and attribution

Android: this release does not include a separate Mixpanel, Sentry, Singular, advertising, or crash-upload integration. RevenueCat still processes subscription information and provides subscription analytics. This is not a claim that store, operating-system, or subscription services receive no data.

iOS: the app integrates Mixpanel for feature and subscription-funnel analytics, Sentry for errors and performance diagnostics, and Singular for install and campaign attribution. These services can receive app and device information, event details, and a persistent random identifier. Events include onboarding and paywall interactions and prayer-feature actions. The identifier can link activity across these services and RevenueCat; these records are not described as wholly anonymous.

The iOS diagnostic configuration includes sampled performance information and session replay, including replay associated with errors. Replay masking and data handling depend on the SDK configuration. Attribution can include store attribution information and advertising identifiers where available under platform rules and your tracking-permission choice. Denying Apple's tracking permission does not disable every form of app analytics or subscription processing.

Provider information: Mixpanel, Sentry, and Singular. Subscription integrations also use Superwall and Amazon Web Services.

6. Backup, sharing, and support

Android backup is enabled. Depending on the device, Android version, and your backup settings, app files, preferences, and databases may be backed up or transferred to another device. This can include saved location, profile and onboarding answers, prayer history, reflections, app selections, reading data, and SDK-owned app data. This version does not exclude these categories from Android backup. On iOS, device backup and restoration can also affect locally stored app data.

When you choose Share, the selected content is passed to the app you select. The recipient's practices then apply. Sending feedback through your email app shares the message and sender details with our support mailbox. You decide what to include; avoid sending private reflection content unless it is needed for your request.

Local app storage and HTTPS connections provide protections for supported operations, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure. Permissions, device access controls, backups, and third-party services also affect how your information is protected.

7. Your choices and deletion

• Choose a city manually instead of granting device-location access.
• Change app preferences and revoke device permissions in system settings.
• Edit supported records and delete reflections in the app.
• On Android, clear the app's storage in Android settings to remove its local data.
• Manage or cancel subscriptions through the store where you purchased them.

Uninstalling or clearing storage removes the app's local copy. It does not cancel a subscription or automatically erase provider records, system backups, shared content, or iOS keychain identifiers. Restoring a backup can restore saved data.

Contact rayane@salahscreen.app to ask about access, correction, or deletion of information handled outside the app. Tell us which platform and kind of information your request concerns. We may need information to locate and verify the relevant record; a local profile email does not automatically identify an Android RevenueCat record. Store transaction records and backup copies are also subject to the relevant provider's processes and applicable requirements.

8. Retention and international processing

Local records remain until they are changed or removed through the app or device controls, subject to backup and restoration. Subscription, diagnostic, attribution, support, and network-service records are handled outside the device under the relevant service arrangements and provider practices. Uninstalling does not set a universal deletion date for those records.

Services used by the app can process information in countries other than your own. Contact us for questions about retention or processing of a particular record. This policy does not promise that all provider records disappear immediately or after a fixed 90-day period.

9. Children's privacy

SalahScreen is intended for people aged 13 and older. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information to us, contact rayane@salahscreen.app so we can review the situation.

10. This website

This website is hosted on Netlify and loads its typeface from Google Fonts. Visiting a page sends ordinary web requests, including connection and browser information, to the hosting and font services. Links to stores, support email, and other services take you to the selected provider.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as features or practices change. We will update the date above and notify you of significant changes through the app. For questions about this policy, contact rayane@salahscreen.app.
